Anime Expo 2008 3
And the last of it.
Woke up at 8, to find out that David hadn't woken up until 7. I just looked at him. ò_ô Had breakfast with David while Ari got ready.
Started loading the cars up with stuff, made sure we got everything, and then checked out of the hotel. Almost had to choke a bitch over who was going to pay with what money and what time, but that got settled quickly.
Headed to the Alley and passed by the insanity line that was for the Guest of Honor Signing Free For All that morning, which was so long they had it extending outside of the Hall. I sighed with defeat for getting Mr. Hayter's autograph. Took a chance and walked over to the signing tables, only to discover that Mr. Hayter wasn't there, so my sadness was alleviated. Sat down and started setting up the table for the last day. I looked up to scan the area because we'd gotten there so late, and... I... OH MA SHU. David Hayter was walking down our row of tables, checking out Artist Alley. My heart skipped a beat and in my midst of Fangirl OMGOMG-ness, I asked him if he'd mind signing my MGS games, and he said yes and whipped out his own Sharpie and asked for my name and he personalized my two games *_______* Then he flipped through my portfolio, and he said that he was looking for Fushigi Yuugi stuff. Of course I didn't have any, but I told him that he could commission me for it XD Then the poor guy got swarmed by a few hawks that noticed me flagging him down, and I apologized to him for it, but he said it was cool. X3;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; I almost cried I was so happy.
After a couple hours, I grabbed my wallet, The Last Unicorn DVD, and Exhibit Hall map and headed inside to find a handful of booths. Found the booth that Peter S Beagle was at, FINALLY, and talked with his agent/manager/assistant dude that remembered me from GenCon 05 and AX 07, and then I presented Mr. Beagle with my still-shrink wrapped DVD, expecting him to only sign the slip cover. He looked at my DVD, looked at me, and set the DVD down on his stack of DVDs, grabbing a fully opened one and signing THAT for me, slip cover, DVD image, AND DVD. I just about died he was so sweet for doing that... Then we talked about the upcoming Last Unicorn manga that I was anxious to see previews of, and he showed me an example of the art, I think. I thanked him about 20 times and then left to find a few other booths.
Bought two VooDoo Babies (Rookie and Mr. Pumpkin), a couple more manga, looked for some Jrock magazines but none caught my interest for their price tag, but I did buckle down and bought a $40 artbook of Blade of the Immortal. I don't buy artbooks unless they're like... under $30. Seeing as I hadn't even spent $100 this year, I figured I could afford to splurge on something that I love so much.
Went back to the Alley and made a few more sales and commissions. SQUEE! Called Mr. Costume and asked him when the hell he was going to pick up his shoes, which he'd left at my house, and he proceeded to tell me that he got burned out and left the con two days early without saying anything, and that he never came to get his shoes because I had never mentioned it. WTF, dude? We had agreed that you'd come get them at AX. Commence a "poor me" moment, which I later came to assume was brought on my his "meds" that he's now taking. Naturally I'm annoyed but go through the rest of the day enjoying myself because it had gone over so well otherwise. Getting those two autographs the way that I had literally made absolutely everything else that weekend worth it. Everything.
Closing time came and we cleaned up, hung out and helped David with a few things before he went to get his car and load up. Said goodbye to the people sitting around us, made sure I had exchanged info with Zach across the aisle, Cheryl next to me and Cris behind me, and Artist Alley Staff and volunteers, and waited for David to get the car.
Decided to leave the shoes at the table and never think about Mr. Costume again. On the wait out to the loading dock, I spotted some prints that somebody had left on top of the trash can, and they looked Jrock-esque, so I grabbed them and Ari and I flipped through them as we waited for David to pull up. Loaded the car, drove to the hotel and loaded our car, said good bye to David and drove home. Ate at Wendy's and said good bye to Ari until later that night. XP
THE END!!
